    1. True. I listen to groups of the music that I downloaded at the gym quite often. I love the low-tech lack of ‘production’ about it. It’s all so organic.

  1. So there I was listening to Little Earthquakes – for the first time in around 15 years – completely randomly, and while listening, noticed this post.

Then I read the first paragraph and laughed out loud.

Coincidence? I think not. Tori has inadvertently led me to your amazing list. If only the links worked for me on my phone, I’d be screaming right along with all those female leads. But alas, this will have to wait till I can get on my PC.

The time cannot come soon enough.

  2. I am so excited to listen to these as soon as possible. I am both excited and depressed by how many of these bands I have never heard of. Thanks for getting them (albeit retroactively) some of the attention they deserve.

  3. thank you for posting this!

i saw you’ve put up REVO in between the female fronted bands, that’s not right as REVO were 4 young boys, fourteen year olds

i know because i knew all of them very well, their drummer used to be the roadie of Bunker unwanted elements show, my band and they practiced for free during our break at our rehearsel night 😃

  5. When I was a punk kid in the 1990’s… ok… my bad for a start, but so was yours! I can list several reasons why I stopped being punk: reason 1) patriarchal attitudes like “stop crying” or “stop being emotional”. The top reason I was a punk in the 90’s???!!!: I was emotional (and Emo and Metal had not yet become seamlessly blended with it). All the “stop being emotional” punk kids became metal heads as soon as that got big. For them, punk is a detour on the road to Hardcore/ Metal (which is not the same feeling at all). reason 2) to not conform to mainstream society: there is nothing more conformist then a “stop crying” attitude. I say the opposite, get some balls and do something emotional and extraordinary. If you want to be unemotional you can go hang out at the local sports bar, you don’t need punk to do that. 3) to Break rules and break genres: the number 2 reason I stopped being punk: it became a genre. There is nothing interesting about being a genre. It is boring, stop being boring and fucking express yourself.

  6. This is beautiful. “White Mice” by the Mo-Dettes is one of my favorite songs. Your list came up in our “Young Til I Die” group on FB, so on behalf of myself and a few others who have been prompted to dig deeper, you have my thanks.
