The Goonies – Required Viewing

“The Goonies” used to be on TV a lot in the afternoons, either I am not watching TV at that time, or it is not on anymore.  I love this film.  I love the adventure, I love the little guy taking on big business theme, I absolutely love Martha Plimpton.  I love “I wonder what is in the bag.”  I love the “Our Time” speech so much I used to randomly recite it to confused/amused coworkers.  This is possibly the closest I get to personal nostalgia, only because I remember seeing this movie when it was new.  I suggest that if you are feeling down, it is raining outside, and you want to watch something other than all the HGTV reruns you’ve already seen, watch this movie and relax.  Chester Copperpot!  Chester Copperpot!  Chester Copperpot!!

The Wiki:

The Goonies is a 1985 American adventure–comedy film directed by Richard Donner. The screenplay was written by Chris Columbus from a story by executive producer Steven Spielberg. The film’s premise features a band of pre-teens who live in the “Goon Docks” neighborhood of Astoria, Oregon attempting to save their homes from demolition, and in doing so, discover an old Spanish map that leads them on an adventure to unearth the long-lost fortune of One-Eyed Willie, a legendary 17th-century pirate.
