Rear View Mirror – My Week In Review

It’s been longer than a week, and that happens from time to time, the content of Waldina is very structured, so I enjoy the randomness of the birthdays as a way to celebrate people.  That way, I don’t get focused on one sort of person and keep celebrating that specific little group.  I also like to do the week in review when there is no birthdays to celebrate, sometimes a week’s worth, sometimes a couple weeks worth.  It all comes out in the wash.

This week, I have included video clips from Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner in the post.  I watched a few when I was writing up the Spencer Tracy birthday post and was reminded how absolutely brilliant that film is. I hope you do yourself a favor and add it to your NetFlix queue and watch it some time.  It is even more poignant to know that it was Spencer Tracy’s last film, he died very shortly after it was completed.

Is it just me or is April Fool’s Day is a good reminder to remember what you see on the internet is probably or at least maybe not100% accurate?  I think we should approach the internet like it is April Fool’s Day more often.

This week, I was offered a new job and put in my notice at my current job.  On one of my days off, I spent it walking around the city and was reminded all the reasons I love being downtown.  I am so glad that I will be back in the city, I miss the vibrancy.  I am a bit nervous about starting the new job, but “without change something sleeps inside us…”  I have no way of forgetting that.

This week on Waldina, I celebrated the birthdays of Spencer Tracy, Bette Davis, Anthony Perkins, Doris Day, Max Ernst, Swifty Lazar, Sarah Vaughan, Billy Wilder, Leigh Bowery, Gerald Murphy, Steve McQueen, Joan Crawford, Anna Maria Piaggi, Bettie Page, Carrie Donovan, Marcel Marceau, and added Breakfast at Tiffany’s to the Required Viewing Film Series.
