It is pretty exiting to think that Waldina is on track to hit 1M views this year. One Million. This little project started in May of 2010 and only had ten posts in eight months, got two comments and zero likes. It was an exercise in positivity and inspiration. I wanted to chronicle what inspired me, the internet seemed very negative and Waldina was my response to that.

The first post was a diary-style post about my trip to Los Angeles with my Mom and Sister for my 40th birthday. My birthday is in January, but Los Angeles is nicer in May.

Along the way, people started to find Waldina and started to find inspiration in it.

So yes, that math means my 50th birthday is this year, in 15 days actually. As it gets closer, I am understanding that there is just no understanding it. So I guess I am betting better at not needing to understand it.

This year, my 50th year, I am going to do my best to do a Waldina Week in Review every week and chronicle something noteworthy I did that week. Or at least post all the selfies with brick wall backgrounds I took. Something. I am not making grand promises (like I thought I may) about trying something new every week for my 50th year because that seems like at some point I am going to run out of things to do and end up skydiving. Or taking a pottery class.

I had also thought about tattoos. My first tattoo was on the day before I turned 30. It is a star on my stomach and a dear friend got a matching one at the same time. He died a few years ago, so I am the last Star-Bellied Sneetch. I thought that it could be fun to get new tattoos, matching or just accompanied by people. That is a lot of planning. But if you wanna get a tattoo with me or wanna go while I get a tattoo, just let me know.

I want this year to be a celebration for me. I want to do stuff that celebrates me, which for me means working out a lot and getting into the kind of shape the makes me feel good. It means probably starting to have the occasional drink again. I am craving (or craving the idea of) a French 75, a Grasshopper, and/or a Sidecar. It means reading books, listening to podcasts, and finding new music. It means not being afraid of social media and consuming it, creating it, and using it to spread more of what I want it to be. By creating more and sharing more, I may get over some of the fears of not liking what I see in the camera when it is set to selfie.

So celebrating me really means watching what I eat. It turns out that not eating wheat and the like makes me feel better, what that actually means I am not willing to put a fine point on. It means getting stronger, in better shape, and always being a little sore from the gym.

2020 has started off with me switching up more of my skincare regime more than I have in probably ten years. I recently discovered The Ordinary. I am now using Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%, Matrixes 10% + HA, and their Natural moisturizer every morning; and toning with their Glycolic Acid 7% and Granactive Retinoid 5% in Sqalane at night. @theordinary @deciem In the shower, I use an acne scrub to get rid of the oil and fluff up my whiskers for shaving with Cremo Refreshing Mint Shave Cream and Harry's Razors. Pre de Provence salt soap for body and one of the shampoo bars from Lush for hair. @cremocompany @harrys @predeprovence @lushcosmetics Scents change frequently, I am obsessed with Chanel's Egoiste out of pure nostalgia and Aveda's Chakra 1 for it's earthiness. Deodorants are always Weleda's Sage spray and Arm & Hammer Essentials Citris (I was at the grocery store). @chanelofficial @aveda @weleda_usa @armandhammer Hair is a shea butter balm with Rudy's Barbershop Sea Salt and Clay Spray (I changed the top because the spray is too messy of a way to apply) to create the just-woke-up messiness. @rudysbarbershop I don't always use a hydrating face mist, but when I do, my favorites are Herbivore's Rose Hibiscus and Thayers Witch Hazel in Rose Petal. They are nice right before bedtime. Keep them in the refrigerator in the summer and cool off with a spritz. @herbivorebotanicals @thayersnatural For skin, I am a late-comer to the miracles of Cetaphil for body, Paula's Choice Super Light Daily Wrinkle Defense SPF 30 for face, and Alba Sunless Tanner for color. @cetaphilus @paulaschoice @albabotanica
