The authorities in Jacksonville, Florida are desperately looking for the gunman who were guilty for the horrific shooting that took the life of 7-year-old Breon Allen on January 24.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is offering a reward of $18,000 for any information that leads to the arrest of the people who were engaged in the shooting.
The neighborhood is in shock at the occurrence, and law enforcement officials are working around the clock to find the people who are responsible for the child’s death.
On January 24, at around 5 p.m., Breon and 21-year-old Lafayette Mango Jr. were leaving a residence when they were approached by a group of people in a car that was dark in color.
The gunmen began shooting, aiming at both Breon and Mango. Breon was taken to the hospital immediately after the attack, but unfortunately, he died from his injuries, according to the sheriff’s office.
Mango was also hurt in the incident and was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Mango is a known gang associate, according to the authorities, who also believe that the shooting was connected to gang activity.
On the other hand, the sheriff’s office has not disclosed the specific details of the relationship between Breon and Mango. The reason for the shooting is still being looked into, and police are trying to figure out what happened before, during, and after the attack.
The automobile that the shooters used has been found, which is a major development.
However, the gunmen are still on the run. The sheriff’s office is requesting that anyone who has information that could help identify and catch the people who committed the crime come forward.
If you have any information that could help, law enforcement is asking you to call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-866-845-TIPS or visit FCCrimeStoppers.com to give anonymous information.
Breon Allen’s family and the Jacksonville community are devastated by his passing. His terrible murder, which was caused by violence that is thought to be tied to gang activities, has highlighted the persistent problem of gang-related crime in the area.
“I never, never thought I’d be burying one of my babies,” Breon’s mother, Casheena Love stated.
“Please let us know what happened to our baby. He was 7 years old. He did not deserve this,” Love stated.
Authorities are optimistic that the community will contribute crucial information that will help bring the gunman to justice and prevent more violence from occurring.
“My heart goes out to the family of the victim,” Sheriff T.K. Waters stated. “Anyone that callously opens fire on a 7-year-old cannot be allowed to walk the streets of our city.”
