Recalls of food and drinks happen all the time in the United States because our food system is so big and busy. Most of the foods we eat are mass-produced to save us time and money, but the FDA does a great job of making sure that customers’ health and safety are protected. It is usually the FDA that jumps at the chance to quickly get rid of any risk of contamination or disease when a recall is raised.
In 2024, it seemed like there were a lot of recalls all at once. This year is now following suit. And the U.S. Food and Drug Administration says that Walmart is in charge of yet another recall. This one is about the more than 2,000 boxes of chicken broth that were bought at the well-known shopping center. There are a total of 12,138 boxes of recalled chicken broth in the cases in question, which is six units of 48-ounce cartons each.
The recall, which began on December 11, 2024, says that there could be “packaging failures that could compromise the sterility of the product, resulting in spoilage.” People who had cases with the “Best If Used By” date of March 24, 2026 and the Lot Code: 98F09234c were asked to return them. The boxes that have been found should also have a Retail Unit UPC of 007874206684d and a Case UPC of 078742066844.
The official FDA statement says that the recalled product was sold at Walmart stores in Alabama and Arkansas. As of now, no other states have been named. A Walmart employee said that the chicken soup has been sold in more than 242 stores in the U.S., but the exact number of stores that are affected may still be unknown.
As of now, no illnesses or medical problems have been linked to the recall. However, people who own the recalled cartons of chicken broth should take them back to Walmart and get their money back in full. This recall is being done by Tree House Foods Inc.
