Douglas Larson, owner of Mods International, pleaded guilty to not paying employment taxes to the IRS on January 8, 2025.
A news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Wisconsin says Larson’s problems with the IRS began on November 15, 2024, when a court record was filed saying he hadn’t paid taxes from January 2018 to September 21, 2021.
The report says that he took out about $396,082.77 in taxes from his workers’ paychecks during this time but did not pay this amount to the IRS.
Larson ran a business that utilized shipping containers to construct and set up buildings. The DOJ says that the plea deal showed that he and his linked business did not pay employment taxes before and after the time frame given. This caused a $1,102,805.13 tax loss.
On April 4, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., Larson will be sentenced by the DOJ. He could face up to five years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, and three years of supervised release after serving his term.
The IRS Criminal probe Division did the probe, and Assistant United States Attorney Zachary J. Corey is in charge of the case.
