Authorities say a 64-year-old woman from Pittsburgh agreed to pay two boys $5 to shovel snow, then got them drunk and touched one of them inappropriately. She is now facing multiple charges.
Based on court papers obtained by USA TODAY on Friday, the woman called the police about a break-in just after 9 p.m. on January 8. Two boys, who looked to be about 12 or 13 years old, were outside the house when police arrived. They were “speaking in a nonsensical way, exclaiming that a woman had just got them drunk and touched them,” according to the report.
According to the police report, the boys were first held while the woman watched from her bedroom window on the second floor. At first, she wouldn’t open the door, but she finally did.
As the woman opened the front door, she was “extremely drunk” and “could not fully explain” why she had called the police. She did, however, tell them that some kids in the area had played a joke on her and were drug dealers.
She stopped answering questions in the end.
The boy says the woman filled up his glass with vodka more times than he can remember
Two officers talked to each boy separately to get their story. The first officer told the other that the boys had been going around and asking people if they needed their sidewalks shoveled so they could make some money. Police said in the report that he said the woman offered them $5.
The woman asked the boys if they wanted hot chocolate while they worked. They agreed and went into her house. The woman gave the boys hot chocolate when they got inside and then asked if they’d like alcohol too, the boy told cops.
The boys decided that they would drink. The boy says that’s when the woman got a big bottle of vodka and kept pouring it into his glass over and over again until he lost track. The man told the police that she kept giving him alcohol and telling him to drink more, which is what the report says.
According to the police report, the man says that the woman put her leg over his, touched him on the shoulders and legs, and tried to touch his private parts while he was drunk.
The boy said they left and he realized he had forgotten his coat about a block away. The report says that when they went back to get it, police arrived.
The report shows that the second boy told police the same story. He confirmed that he saw the woman touch the first boy and that they were banging on her windows to get her attention and get the coat.
The report says he also showed police video from inside the woman’s home that showed her sitting next to the first boy with her legs over both of his and rubbing his arm and shoulder.
Woman said she wouldn’t let boys into her house
When the police asked the woman about what the boys said, she said she had never let them into her house.
As they looked into it, police found the first boy’s coat on her couch and a half-full gallon bottle of vodka in her kitchen.
The woman was arrested, and the boys were taken home after their moms were called and their handcuffs were taken off.
The woman was caught and taken to the jail in Allegheny County. The woman had high blood pressure, so the cops had to take her to the hospital. Once she was medically cleared, they took her back to the county jail.
The woman was named by police as Rochelle Stewart, 64 years old. She was charged with sexual assault, bribery of children, giving alcohol to minors to get them to do something, and lying to police.
It wasn’t clear right away on Friday afternoon if Stewart has a lawyer or someone who will be in court for her.
