Man in Nashville is being charged after two missing girls from East Tennessee were found in his home

Nashville, Tennessee — Several types of law enforcement worked together to find two girls who went missing in East Tennessee and were later found in Middle Tennessee.

Court papers say that the girls were found on Sunday at the home of 21-year-old Isaac Schellsmidt in Nashville. Schellsmidt was arrested and charged with felony theft.

The 12 and 13-year-olds were last seen at a home in the Soddy Daisy area on Sunday, January 19. The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office said they were missing.

During the investigation, police said they found evidence that the girls had been talking to a guy from Nashville on social media. They also said it looked like the girls left the house early Sunday morning and met the suspect nearby.

Court records show that Schellsmidt drove the kids to his home in Nashville, where he allegedly slept with the 13-year-old.

After detectives in Hamilton County found the man and learned where the kids might be, the sheriff’s office asked the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) and the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) for aid.

Authorities say that MNPD officers went to the scene and found the girls, who were not hurt and were with two guys. The kids were picked up by police and then given back to their parents.

Police say Schellsmidt told them in an interview that he knew the girls were children when he picked them up in Hamilton County and that he knew their parents were looking for them while they were staying at his house.
