BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – Alabama Power will give $250,000 in emergency aid to help people who are having trouble paying their bills due to the winter weather in January.
The Alabama Business Charitable Trust will provide funds for emergency bill help.
The aim is to assist as many people as we can. Applicants need to be at or below 250% of federal poverty standards. The money can be used for gas, electricity, kerosene, wood, and propane expenses.
“Cold temperatures will lead people to use more energy to heat their homes.” To stay warm, comfy, and safe. Cold weather can be dangerous for our customers and people in Alabama. Teisha Wallace from Alabama Power said it was important to provide funds to customers who might be struggling financially due to higher energy use.
