Some Winn-Dixie and Harveys stores will return to their original parent business.
Southeastern Grocers announced that a group of private investors, led by CEO Anthony Hucker and C&S Wholesale Grocers, has bought about 170 shops from ALDI U.S.
In August 2023, Action News Jax reported that ALDI planned to buy about 400 shops in Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Florida.
We also told you in March when ALDI completed the deal to buy the stores.
SEG announced that about 220 Winn-Dixie and Harveys shops will be turned into ALDI stores.
“When we announced that we bought Southeastern Grocers, we said that many Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarkets would keep running. We are keeping that promise while also helping ALDI grow.” In the past year, we have seen C&S Wholesale Grocers, Southeastern Grocers, and their teams provide excellent quality, service, and value to their customers. We believe they will successfully guide the company in the future,” said Jason Hart, CEO of ALDI, in a company news release.
Hucker will be the Chair, CEO, and President, as stated in SEG’s news statement.

“We are very thankful and honored to keep serving the communities we care about.” Hucker said in the SEG news release that our culture and future plans are based on our 100-year history, which is built on strong values and a commitment to care for each other. As we go through this change, we are still dedicated to growing in a careful and meaningful way, which keeps us moving forward with new energy. As we reinvest in the store fleet, we are inspired by listening loudly to the opinions of our customers, to elevate and revolutionize our customer experience and store offerings, so that each step we take will represent our dedication to our people and our communities.”
Action News Jax has contacted ALDI and SEG to learn which nearby stores are changing to ALDI and which will stay as Winn-Dixie and Harveys.
