Deadly Private Jet Collision in Arizona Leaves One Dead, Several Injured

Monday afternoon, a small business jet crashed into a parked plane as it arrived at Scottsdale Airport in Arizona, which is just east of Phoenix. At least one person was killed and several were hurt.

A representative for the singer said that the coming plane belongs to Vince Neil, who is the lead singer of Mötley Crüe. Worrick Robinson, the agent, told CNN in a statement that Neil was not on board.

Kelli Kuester, a spokeswoman for the city, said that one person died and three were hurt in the crash. Earlier, officials said that four people were hurt. Kuester said that the three hurt people were taken to hospitals.

Capt. David Folio of the Scottsdale Fire Department said Monday that workers are still trying to take the body of the dead person. Police have not said what names are on board.

Robinson says that there were two pilots and two guests on Neil’s plane.

Kuester said at a Monday news conference that the Learjet 35A plane was coming in from Austin, Texas, when it went off the runway and crashed into a parked Gulfstream G200 jet.

“It looks like the accident happened because the left main gear failed when it landed,” she said.

Kuester says that the National Transportation Safety Board is at the scene of the accident and is in charge of the probe. CNN asked the NTSB about it, and all they said was that they are looking into it.

Private jets often use Scottsdale Airport to come and go from the Phoenix area. This is especially true during big events like the Waste Management Phoenix Open golf game last weekend, which claims to be the world’s biggest zero-waste sporting event.

The FAA temporarily stopped flights into the airport with only one runway after the crash, but a later post from Scottsdale Airport’s X account says that the runway reopened late Monday.

The crash comes after a string of bad air accidents in the past few weeks, including a crash near Washington, DC, involving two planes that killed all 67 people on board and a crash in Philadelphia involving a medevac jet that killed seven.
