Police in Northern Wisconsin See Surge in Calls, Issue Nearly 130 Parking Tickets in Busy Month

WIS.— Rhinelander When police in northern Wisconsin shared their January 2025 statistics, they showed that almost all of them went up.

There was a post on the Rhinelander Police Department’s Facebook page about how many calls for help they got in January 2025. They say they took 714 calls in January, which is 132 more than the previous year.

More calls for help than before, by 22%. It was said that 64 citations or warnings were given for 2025 because of the calls, but only 16 were issued in January 2024.

Also, officials said that 129 parking tickets had been given out since November when the Winter Parking Ban started.

Ten times in January, the department’s K9 units were said to have been used.
