Fake Surgeon Arrested After Leaving Woman Brain-Dead from Failed Butt-Implant Surgery

After reportedly performing an illegal plastic surgery procedure on a 31-year-old lady inside his house, leaving her brain-dead, a 38-year-old man in New York City was taken into custody.

Felipe Hoyos-Foronda was arrested Friday at John F. Kennedy International Airport and charged with one count of unlawful practice of a profession and one count of second-degree assault.

The victim went to Hoyos-Foronda’s Queens home on the evening of March 28, 2025, to have her butt implants taken out, according to a criminal complaint that The Independent was able to obtain.

Authorities claim that Hoyos-Foronda gave multiple lidocaine injections shortly after she arrived at the house, which allegedly served as a makeshift medical office.

Regretfully, the victim suffered a heart attack shortly after receiving the injections, according to authorities.

According to reports, Hoyos-Foronda fled the scene in his car after calling Emergency Medical Services to come to his house.

First responders arrived at the site, went inside the house, and discovered the victim unconscious.

According to The New York Daily News, she was sent to Astoria General Hospital for treatment, where medical professionals concluded that she had lidocaine toxicity because of the high levels of the drug in her system.

Seizures and an abnormal heartbeat are the usual symptoms of the illness, but in severe situations, cardiac arrest results.

Authorities allegedly received information about Hoyos-Foronda and his photo from the building’s landlord.

Because of the seriousness of her condition, the victim was later taken to Mount Sinai Queens Hospital.

Following the incident, a license plate reader saw Hoyos-Foronda’s car heading south on the Van Wyck Expressway toward JFK, alerting Port Authority Police Department officers to his presence.

The defendant bought a ticket to Colombia at the airport and walked through security before being taken into custody by police.

According to the Astoria Post, a doctor told police the victim was on life support and did not exhibit any brain activity. According to reports, the doctor stated that he did not think the sufferer would live.

A neighbor of Hoyos-Foronda, who did not wish to be recognized, told that it was likely Hoyos-Foronda had treated many other people previous to the victim being hospitalized.

“There was a steady stream of middle-class Latino women coming in and out for months,” the neighbor told the newspaper. “It was weird, but we didn’t think it was dangerous.”

Authorities suspect Hoyos-Foronda carried out similar procedures, which were also allegedly illegal, in Miami, where he allegedly promoted services including Botox injections and microneedling, the article added.

Anyone with pertinent information regarding the case is encouraged by the authorities to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.
