On Thursday, T.W. Garner Food Company declared that parts of its Texas Pete® Sweet Chabanero Sauce and Texas Pete® Habanero Buffalo Sauce are being recalled.
This year, a number of recalls have been started because of possible product damage, foodborne disease, unreported food allergies, or bacterial contamination.
Each year, millions of Americans suffer from food allergies or sensitivities. Eggs, milk, fish, wheat, soybeans, crustacean shellfish, sesame, tree nuts, and peanuts are the nine “major” dietary allergens in the United States, according to the dietary and Drug Administration (FDA).
Because it may contain Sriracha sauce, Texas Pete® Habanero Buffalo Sauce is being recalled.
According to an FDA alert, the Texas Pete Habanero Buffalo Sauce label does not identify sulfites as a preservative, but the Sriracha Sauce does.
The FDA cautions that those with sulfite sensitivity or allergy who use the recalled product may have severe to fatal responses.
According to the FDA, the Texas Pete® Sweet CHAbanero Sauce is being recalled because the label did not make clear that it contained vinegar, salt, and red habanero chiles.

Retail establishments and centers in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Massachusetts, North Carolina, New Jersey, Ohio, Virginia, and Vermont received the merchandise between February 5, 2025, and March 26, 2025.
According to the FDA, no illnesses have been recorded as of Thursday. A chart of the affected products along with their matching lots, sizes, and best-by dates is also included in the FDA advisory.
The warning also includes images of the recalled sauces.
Consumers who have bought the recalled hot sauces are advised to discard them or return them for a refund to the retailer.
On weekdays, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET, customers can contact the company by phone at (336) 231-6417 or by email at ContactUs@garnerfoods.com.
