Officials say an Arizona prisoner serving 16 life sentences murdered three other inmates at a Tucson state jail.
Saul Alvarez, Thorne Harnage, and Donald Lashley are said to have been killed by Ricky Wassenaar during the Friday brawl at the Arizona State Prison Cimmaron Unit.
According to the site, Wassenaar is the sole suspect in the case. According to prison authorities, he behaved with “intent to harm.”
Harnage was convicted of having sex with a kid in Pima County, Lashley was serving a term for child molestation in Pima County, and Alvarez was incarcerated for a murder in Maricopa County.
Due to his involvement in a 2004 jail standoff, Wassenaar was already serving 16 life sentences. Prior to the standoff, he had a criminal record.
He was found guilty along with another man of holding two guards hostage at the Lewis Prison Complex in Buckeye, Arizona, for 15 days.
In American history, it was one of the longest prison hostage situations.

Wassenaar allegedly deceived another guard into allowing him entry to a prison watchtower by dressing like a kitchen guard.
He used a homemade weapon to overpower a cop and get the uniform.
Following Friday’s inmate deaths, Wassenaar was sent to a prison near Florence, according to the Arizona Department of Corrections. Investigations into the incident are still ongoing.
“ADCRR’s Office of the Inspector General has begun an initial criminal investigation related to the inmate’s deaths,” prison officials stated. “All inmate deaths are investigated in consultation with the county medical examiner’s office. The ADCRR takes situations involving violence seriously and will pursue prosecution against any suspects believed to be involved in the case.”
Following the altercation, the prison suspended visitors for the remainder of Friday.
