A former substitute teacher in Miami-Dade County was sentenced to 25 years in state prison on Monday after police accused him of providing narcotics to seven female students in exchange for sexual favors.
As part of a plea agreement, Enreeka Nalasco, 35, admitted to human trafficking of a minor, lewd and lascivious activity with a victim under the age of 16, and lewd and lascivious violence.
Nalasco must serve at least 15 years of his sentence, followed by 20 years on sexual predator probation.
He is not permitted to use social media or contact any of the victims, who vary in age from 12 to 16.
“Everything he has done, not only to me, but to all of us little girls, he does not deserve to get out,” one of the victims said in a statement read in court by the state.
Nalasco apologized to his victims during his sentencing hearing.
“I take accountability and apologize to everyone I hurt,” he told reporters. “I apologize.” “I hope they forgive me.”
According to a May 2022 arrest report, Nalasco offered drugs and vape pens to female students at Nautilus Middle School in Miami Beach in exchange for cash or sexual favors.
According to the report, Nalasco was a former substitute teacher at Miami Beach Senior High School who was sacked in 2018 after an internal inquiry discovered that he had inappropriately contacted a kid via social media.
Authorities say they learned about the latest allegations against Nalasco in March 2022.
According to the arrest complaint, multiple students told officers that Nalasco, also known as “Swaggy,” befriended them on Snapchat and started selling vape pens, marijuana, marijuana cards, and nicotine.
The youngsters informed Miami-Dade Schools Police that Nalasco would accept sexual favors or cash as payment.
Although some of the girls declined Nalasco’s approaches, authorities alleged he sexually abused at least one 12-year-old student, obtained nude images from another student, and sent another student a video of himself masturbating.
Nalasco was still being held at the Miami-Dade County Pre-Trial Detention Center on Monday morning.
The victims and their families did not attend the hearing, but prosecutors say they were notified of the details of Nalasco’s plea agreement.
If he had gone to trial and been convicted, Nalasco might have received a life sentence.
