A Power Outage Has Left Over 35,000 Homes Without Electricity in Southern Oregon

Power has been returned to more than 35,000 homes in southern Oregon after an unexplained power outage on Tuesday.

Pacific Power, a utility company, reported that the outage impacted users in Glide, Myrtle Creek, Oakland, Roseburg, Sutherlin, Winchester, and Winston. Douglas County has around 45,000 people, based on information from the U.S. Census Bureau.

Teams were sent out to check on the outage, fix the issues, and quickly return services to the affected areas.

The reason for the failure was not known by late Tuesday.

More than 4,000 Douglas Electric Cooperative users west of Roseburg faced power outages on Tuesday morning. This includes areas served by substations in Camas, Tenmile, Lookingglass, Melrose, and Umpqua.
