MIDLAND, Texas – Police in Midland arrested a man after they say he stalked a woman from her workplace. The woman eventually led him straight to the Midland Police Department, where he was arrested. A third-degree criminal charge has been brought against Osiel Sanchez, who is 29 years old.
Wednesday, February 5, police were called to the outside of 601 North Loraine Street (Midland Police Department) because a woman was on the phone with 911 while being followed by a white pickup truck driven by Osiel Sanchez, 29.
Officers from outside the police department said Sanchez was “behaving strangely,” not making eye contact with them, and only “staring into the woman’s car” at the scene. Reports say the woman, whose name was changed, was scared and ran to the police as soon as she got out of the car.
Reports say Sanchez told police that he was on his way to Chick-Fil-A when he saw the woman at work and stopped to “just try and talk to her.” However, the woman told police that the situation was worse and that Sanchez had tried to block her car before she was able to get away and drive to the police station.
Sanchez told the police that the woman had just left him and that he had been trying to get in touch with her during the investigation. Sanchez also said that he had followed her car for a while and had been to her workplace several times in the “past couple of days.”
Reports also said that the woman told police that Sanchez had been texting her and starting fights with her nonstop since they broke up three weeks ago. She said that the fight that night felt worse, which is why she called 911. After that, she asked for a protective order.
The police then arrested Sanchez for stalking and took him to the Midland County Detention Center, where he was held on a $25,000 bond. The people being held in Midland County say that Sanchez has since been released on bail.
The arrest affidavit says that Sanchez is being sought as a protective order while the probe continues.
