Arkansas Gets a Tech Upgrade: Next-Gen Mobile ID from IDEMIA and DMV Now Available!

The next generation of mobile ID has been introduced in Arkansas by IDEMIA Public Security North America in collaboration with the Driver Services and Motor Vehicles (DSMV) division of the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration (DFA).

Residents of Arkansas can now use a highly secure digital copy of their state ID or driver’s license on their phone to prove their identification at establishments that recognize mobile IDs, such as businesses and government institutions.

“Arkansans with an existing driver’s license or state ID can have that official state credential on their mobile phone or device through a simple process that takes less than five minutes,” Jim Hudson, DFA Secretary stated. “It is a free, secure resource that empowers Arkansans to determine the amount of information they choose to share in any transaction. We are committed to providing a great customer experience, and the Mobile ID is one more way we are streamlining and improving state services.”

The Arkansas Mobile ID App can be downloaded for free from Google Play or the Apple App Store and is powered by IDEMIA’s unique technology and security features.

People may easily verify their identity while maintaining their privacy using the Arkansas Mobile ID App. Mobile ID is not kept in a central database; rather, it is safely maintained on the user’s device alone.

In order to provide a trustworthy experience for both users and mobile ID verifiers, only mobile ID holders are able to access their information using their biometric data or unique PIN.

Users can also limit how much personal information is disclosed.

For instance, if a user is asked to prove their age for an age-restricted purchase, they can say that they are older than the legal age but keep their full address, date of birth, and other details from their driver’s license private.

“We are proud to lead the market with our innovative mobile ID technology, providing unparalleled convenience and the highest levels of identification privacy and security. Together, with Arkansas, we’re introducing a contactless, highly secure, state-approved credential that resides on the citizens’ mobile devices, serving as a valid form of identification. This partnership not only enhances everyday experiences but also empowers residents with greater control over their personal identity information,” Rob Gardner, CEO, IDEMIA Civil Identity North America stated.

With more states anticipated to adopt IDEMIA’s Mobile ID technology this year, Arkansas joins a small group of states that have already done so, including Arizona, Delaware, Iowa, New York, and West Virginia. In the near future, Arkansas Mobile ID should also be available in business wallets.
