Armed Robbery in Riverside County: Suspect Who Tied Up Elderly Victim Taken Into Custody

On Tuesday, authorities in Riverside County detained a suspect who is accused of robbing an elderly man in his own house. The suspect allegedly tied the guy up during the robbery.

According to a statement from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were sent to a house in the 39000 block of Lincoln Street after receiving complaints of an armed robbery.

This occurred at approximately 3:15 p.m.

They discovered that the suspect, Jason Wright, who is 42 years old, had tied up the victim while holding a knife during their inquiry. He then took his automobile without permission and ran away from the neighborhood.

“As deputies responded to the area, a vehicle matching the description of the victim’s vehicle was seen at a drive-thru restaurant in the area of Sixth Street and Highland Springs Avenue in the city of Beaumont,” according to a statement from RSO.

A spectacular pursuit through Riverside County ensued as authorities reacted to a case involving a suspect called Wright who had been implicated in a string of crimes. Initially, when deputies saw Wright’s car, they sent several units to the drive-thru exit.

Wright tried to leave the scene by putting his car in reverse and jumping a curb when he saw that police were getting closer. In an effort to avoid being apprehended, he then turned into Highland Springs Avenue.

Deputies lost sight of the automobile for a short while, but they were able to find it with the assistance of the Beaumont Police Department and a sheriff’s department helicopter.

Eventually, the car was discovered on dirt roads close to California Avenue and Lamb Canyon Road, just south of Beaumont.

But Wright wasn’t prepared to give up easy. He abandoned the car and fled on foot as deputies drew closer, trying to get away into the surrounding area.

Despite his attempts to avoid detection, he was eventually caught by police authorities after they were able to track him down at a dead end.

After being taken into custody, Wright was charged with numerous major offenses, such as car theft, false imprisonment of an elderly person, robbery, kidnapping, and probation violation.

Following a stressful and hazardous pursuit that took place over multiple places, officials used both ground units and aircraft backup to apprehend him.

Anyone with information regarding Wright’s actions or the case is being asked to come forward by detectives. To help in the ongoing investigation, anyone with information is asked to call the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department at (951) 776-1099.
