PANAMA CITY — On Tuesday night, residents got an AlertBay message saying that, starting now, the roads and bridges in Bay County are dangerous and shouldn’t be used.
This was caused by a winter storm. Enzo was dumping a record amount of snow along the Gulf Coast. The National Weather Service predicted that Panama City would get several inches of snow on Tuesday, with some areas in Bay County expecting more than 6 inches.
The Bay County Sheriff’s Office shared a message that described the AlertBay notification. The post states that heavy weather has made the roads unsafe for everyone.
The agency stated that only emergency cars should be on Bay County roads and bridges until the situation gets better. BCSO promised to provide more information about road conditions as soon as they have it.
The sheriff’s office stated that it is not putting a curfew in place. It is strongly recommended that residents put off or delay all trips. The office said that things were getting worse for drivers on Tuesday evening.
