On Wednesday, a former companion of A$AP Rocky is scheduled to testify about the time in 2021 when the hip-hop singer supposedly shot a gun at him on a street in Hollywood.
A$AP Relli, the trial’s most essential witness, will give what is likely to be the most significant testimony of the trial when he returns to the stand.
Rocky, whose legal name is Rakim Mayers, has pleaded not guilty to two felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic handgun.
According to his lawyer, the shots that he fired were blanks from a starter pistol that he was carrying as a prop.
Relli, who was born Terell Ephron, recounted the initial portion of the confrontation on Tuesday. Just as Relli was about to explain the supposed shooting, the court session came to a close for the day.
He stated that he and Rocky, who are both members of A$AP, a group of innovators at a high school in New York, had been close, but their relationship deteriorated after Rocky became famous.
He claimed that their relationship had been deteriorating for years and had gotten worse in the days leading up to the incident, but he was still “furious” when Rocky drew a gun on him following a fight that started as soon as they met up at the W Hotel.
“I told him to make advantage of it. Relli said, “Because I couldn’t believe it mentally,” while his old friend looked at him carefully from the defense table. “I physically could not believe there was a gun in my face. That was the breaking moment for me.”
He stated that he had anticipated having a disagreement with his old friend, but he had also expected to make amends.
The last thing he wanted was to engage into a fight that may destroy the small music management firm he had created.
“He’s famous,” Relli stated. “I’m nobody.”
The testimony will be place on a shortened court day. Due to a prior obligation of the prosecutor, the trial will only take place for two hours in the morning. Relli should be prepared for a tough cross-examination from the defense, which may start on Wednesday.
Rocky’s rap tracks, which he wrote while growing up in Harlem, became a huge hit on the streets of New York City in 2011.
