Authorities claim that a Colorado woman was convicted of her boyfriend’s murder after she conspired with an unknown individual to murder him because she was angry that he had questioned her ability to find employment.
Adams County District Attorney Brian Mason stated this week that Ashley White, 29, was convicted of second-degree murder and other crimes related to the 2020 death of her lover, 28-year-old Cody DeLisa.
After DeLisa was discovered shot dead at their Commerce City home in August 2020, White was taken into custody.
In the months before the murder, White and DeLisa had a “volatile and strained relationship,” according to the district attorney’s office, partly because DeLisa had frequently chastised White’s girlfriend for not being able to find a full-time work.
According to authorities, White became so irate with DeLisa that she attempted to burn and drown his cat.
According to authorities, White went to a job interview in Denver on August 13, 2020. DeLisa “expressed skepticism about her chances of getting the job, which upset White” during the bus trip home.
According to the DA’s office, White met a man on the bus who identified himself as “Scott” and, after discussing DeLisa’s alleged abusive behavior, they came up with a plot to murder her.
Authorities claim that after disembarking from the bus, they walked to White and DeLisa’s residence. DeLisa was shot twice in the head shortly after, and his body was found the next day.
Authorities stated that the two had rehearsed shooting Scott’s gun prior to the murder, but they did not specifically name the shooter.
After the murder, White and Scott allegedly took DeLisa’s pocketbook and stayed in the neighborhood for a few days before Scott fled.
White told police she never saw him again. After being recognized as a suspect, White was taken into custody and charged.
Authorities made another breakthrough in the investigation three years after the murder.
In 2023, a woman claiming to be Michael Stratton’s girlfriend called the district attorney’s office to report that her boyfriend had admitted to playing a role in DeLisa’s murder.

Her description, according to authorities, corroborated White’s version of what happened. Following DeLisa’s death, Stratton was arrested for a different crime.
According to authorities, Stratton has not been charged in relation to DeLisa’s murder since he was judged unable to stand trial in that instance.
The jury found White guilty of second-degree murder, conspiracy to commit second-degree murder, and robbery following around three weeks of testimony during her trial, which started on January 6.

“This was a tragic and senseless murder and Ashley White bears significant culpability for it,” District Attorney Brian Mason stated. “Her callous actions led to the victim’s death and now she will pay a significant price.”
White’s sentencing is set for April 4.
