Death Threat Sent Hours Before Murder of Former Senator’s Son at Casino, Authorities Reveal

The allegations against a 19-year-old male in Las Vegas stem from a “dangerous” criminal spree that spanned many jurisdictions last week and included high-speed pursuits, car thefts, and the murder of a former Nevada senator’s son.

According to police, the suspect asked a woman if she “wanted to die” “just hours” after the incident.

Na’onche Osborne, the 23-year-old son of former Democratic state senator Pat Spearman, was shot dead last Thursday at the Aliante Casino and Hotel. Aerion Warmsley, of North Las Vegas, is charged with open murder with a deadly weapon and robbery with a deadly weapon.

Details on Warmsley’s alleged crime spree were made public by the North Las Vegas Police Department on Saturday night during a video briefing that was aired by local news outlet. It is anticipated that he will be charged further.

Regarding the personal dispute and text that allegedly sparked Warmsley’s rampage last Wednesday night, NLVPD Officer Roberto Vaquera stated, “This homicide followed an interaction involving the suspect that occurred just one day earlier.”

“(Warmsley) sent the victim a threatening text message, asking her if she wanted to die,” Vaquera stated. “When officers arrived and located Warmsley’s vehicle in the parking lot outside the victim’s apartment building, they attempted to speak to him. However, he fled the scene in a Mercedes sedan with unique markings before officers could make contact with him.”

According to Vaquera, Warmsley shot Osborne on the casino floor at approximately 4:30 a.m. after allegedly eluding the police for hours and eventually arriving at Aliante.

Warmsley and another man, who has not been apprehended or recognized, reportedly departed the location in his Mercedes automobile with distinctive marks and stolen license plates, according to preliminary information given to police.

“A short time later, the suspect vehicle was involved in a crash in the area of Spring Mountain Road and Procyon Street in Las Vegas,” Vaquera stated. “Two men fled the scene on foot and (Warmsley) approached a nearby woman and stole her gray SUV Mercedes at gunpoint. Over the next several hours, (Warmsley) was involved in a series of dangerous crimes across multiple jurisdictions. These crimes included additional vehicle thefts, high-speed pursuits and reckless driving that endangered many members of the public.”

In response to her son’s passing, Spearman, who had several stints in the Nevada state senate, told that the family had suffered a “unimaginable loss.”

“They are heartbroken,” the rep stated. “During this difficult time, the senator and their family ask for privacy as they grieve and support one another. They are deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and condolences from friends, colleagues, and the community.”
