Police say that license plate technology helped them find an Alabama inmate who escaped and was caught more than 600 miles away at a Buc-ee’s in Texas.
Melissa Police told Fox News Digital that they have caught Pierson McKinnley Anthony, 25, who was wanted in Marion County, Alabama, after he escaped from prison.
On Sunday, January 26, just before 5 p.m., officials were notified about a car linked to Anthony’s escape after a Flock camera spotted it near the Buc-ee’s in Anna.
When the cops got to the scene, they saw Anthony leaving the Buc-ee’s parking lot, and they carried out a high-risk felony traffic stop.
Authorities said Anthony gave himself up peacefully. Later, they found out that the driver of the car had a current felony warrant for helping Anthony escape.
Anthony and the driver were both arrested and are currently in the Collin County Jail, waiting to be sent to Alabama.
Officials said that Anthony has also been charged with a third-degree crime.
Melissa is about 65 miles from Fort Worth and over 600 miles from the jail in Alabama where Anthony fled.
It wasn’t clear right away what charges Anthony faced or why he was in jail.
The Melissa Police Department said they used Flock technology to find Anthony.

Melissa Police Chief Erik Stokes said in a statement to Fox News Digital that this successful arrest shows how important it is for different agencies to work together and how committed our officers are to keeping Melissa safe. “This shows how well FLOCK technology can help catch wanted criminals from all over the country.”
Flock safety technology helps police, neighborhoods, and towns fight crime. It uses license plate recognition and sends real-time alerts to help find wanted suspects. This information is from the company’s website.
