Four Men Arrested in $200,000 Alabama Lottery Fraud Scheme

Today, federal agents nabbed four men in Foley for being involved in a lottery scam that cheated people out of $200,000.

The Department of Justice named the four men as Peter Walcott, Malik Chambers, Romario Nembhard, and Jermaine Smith.

All the men are either current or past residents of Baldwin County and are Jamaican citizens living in the country legally, according to court records.

The papers claim that the men got more than 100 cash shipments from victims, mostly elderly people, amounting to $200,000 from February 2020 to August 2023.

The victims, from different parts of the country, thought they had won the lottery. They were tricked into sending cash for “taxes” to fake names and addresses that the four men controlled.

The four men are facing charges for letter fraud, wire fraud, and planning to commit these frauds.

The men could get up to 20 years in jail if found guilty.
