Residents now have quicker access to hundreds of thousands of free e-books and audiobooks thanks to a new partnership announced by the California State Library on Wednesday.
The Palace Project, a free mobile app, will offer over 300,000 e-books and audiobooks, the library revealed.
“With just a few clicks, any Californian can go and grab what they’re looking for on California’s Bookshelf. Trust me, we’ve tried to make something for every reader,” California State Librarian Greg Lucas stated.
Similar to how local libraries let customers access to their own e-book collections, the new program offers Californians a complimentary virtual library card to access the collection, according to the California State Library.
What a user must do is this:
- Install the Palace Project app on their phone and look up “California’s Bookshelf” under “Find my library.”
- Select a book, select “Get” or “Reserve,” select “Create Card,” give the app permission to use your location once, and then complete the form.
- Get your virtual card number and enter it into the app to begin reading after verifying your email address in the same email.
