Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem took part in an immigration police operation in New York City on Tuesday.
Noem shared a short video of an arrest on her social media.
The secretary is observing both criminal and civil law enforcement activities, as reported by sources in New York.
The criminal case is about a member of a Venezuelan gang that took control of an apartment complex in Aurora, Colorado, according to sources. One suspected gang member was arrested in the Bronx.
The New York branch of the U.S. Drug police Administration is collaborating with the Justice Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to help the Department of Homeland Security with their police work.
Noem appeared for the operations just a few days after the Senate approved her.

Noem, the ex-governor of South Dakota, will be in charge of managing Trump’s immigration efforts alongside Tom Homan, who is called the “border czar.”
“After her confirmation, she said that the Trump Administration will support our dedicated law enforcement officers in removing criminals and illegal gangs from our country.” “We will provide our intelligence and law enforcement agencies with the tools they need to find and stop terror threats, and we will quickly help Americans in emergencies.”
