ICE Arrests Homeless Illegal Immigrant Who Requested Detention to Avoid Committing Crimes

A homeless illegal immigrant from Venezuela was caught by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. He walked into the agency’s Detroit office and told them he had to be arrested or he would “go out and commit crimes.”

The Venezuelan citizen, whose name was not made public, will now stay in jail until immigration procedures are over.

ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Detroit Field Office Director Robert Lynch said in a statement, “We’re grateful that this person self-reported and turned himself in to ICE before going out and putting the public at risk.”

The 23-year-old man “entered the agency’s lobby” in Detroit on February 6 and asked to be taken into custody, telling ICE that he would commit crimes if they did not arrest him.

On Tuesday, ICE also said that illegal aliens had been caught in Colorado and New York City.

An 30 year old Honduran man named Adan Desederio Pavon-Andino was arrested in Thorton, Colorado, on February 5.

“Pavon has two convictions for felony marijuana possession and is facing four charges of felony possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, felony re-entry as well as alien in possession of a firearm,” ICE said.

“Pavon, who was previously removed from the U.S., unlawfully re-entered the U.S. at an unknown date and location,” ICE said.

On February 3, Kail Sebastian Cardenas Aguirre, an Ecuadorian woman 27 years old who had been found guilty of sex abuse, was arrested in New York City.

ICE said last Friday that outside of the U.S., they worked with the National Police of Peru in Lima to “arrest and dismantle the illegal activities of Tren de Aragua members in the country.”

“Approximately 23 individuals suspected of being involved with a human trafficking network were arrested, and more than 80 human trafficking victims were rescued, including three minors,” ICE said.
