After confessing to frightening the family of her ex-boyfriend’s new lover, a Pennsylvania doctor was told her fate.
According to online court documents, Amy Cohen, 36, of Narberth, a former infectious disease doctor, pleaded guilty to arson, terroristic threats with intent to intimidate another, and other charges on Wednesday, March 28.
She was given a sentence of 11 to 23 months in jail.
According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, an attempted murder charge was dismissed as part of her plea deal.
She received credit for the six months she spent in an inpatient mental health facility following the crimes.
He claimed that she would “backslide” and “lose the benefit of all this treatment” if she were to go to jail.
“The next step in your rehabilitation process is understanding there are consequences for your actions and accepting them,” the court said, disagreeing with Cohen.
According to a statement from the department, the offenses were first discovered on Nov. 24, 2023, when Lower Merion Township police started looking into an allegation regarding a threatening flier discovered at a grandmother’s house.
According to the Philly Voice, the brochure included images of the woman’s two granddaughters with their eyes crossed out and anti-Semitic sentiments.
Additionally, it stated that the grandchildren had to “quit their jobs and move out of Pennsylvania,” cops claimed.
When a fire was started at the front door of the house on November 30, police and firefighters were called to the scene once more.
According to authorities, surveillance footage installed after the poster was discovered on the home showed a white woman starting “an intentional fire” at the front door as the grandmother was sleeping inside.
She kept attempting to speed up the fire by dousing it with flammable liquid.

Before spreading past the front porch of the house, the fire finally went out.
According to authorities, after seeing the video, one of the woman’s granddaughters’ new boyfriends quickly identified Cohen as the fire starter.
“Police believe this crime came as a result of Cohen’s ex-boyfriend leaving her for another woman,” Lieutenant Jim Baitinger stated. “The house she allegedly burned belonged to the new girlfriend’s 99-year-old grandmother.”
According to the man, Cohen was angry about their recent split.
Cohen was taken into custody and accused with a number of offenses, including ethnic insinuation, arson, aggravated arson, and attempted murder.
Prior to her release, she was detained at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility on $5 million in cash bail.
According to the Inquirer, the granddaughter, who has not been publicly named, told the judge before Cohen was sentenced that she has been plagued by paranoia and terror ever since the threats started in 2023.
The woman claimed that she felt compelled to constantly “look over my shoulder” while Cohen was free on bond.
“Amy demonstrated a total disregard for human life which is disgusting, knowing that she is a doctor,” the granddaughter claimed of her starting the fire.
