Kayse Shrum, the President of Oklahoma State University, Has Stepped Down From Her Position

Oklahoma State University President Kayse Shrum has stepped down, the board of regents said on Wednesday.

The Oklahoma State University A&M Board of Regents accepted her resignation, which will take place on February 3, according to a statement from the board.

“We thank Dr. Shrum for her strong leadership, her dedication to students, and her important work for the OSU System,” the statement says.

Shrum, 52, led Oklahoma State University after the COVID-19 pandemic while also managing issues related to conference changes and public relations challenges with the university’s famous football team.

She made history as the first woman to head one of Oklahoma’s two major universities when the OSU/A&M board appointed her to replace Burns Hargis, starting on July 1, 2021. Shrum, an osteopathic doctor, was formerly the head of OSU’s Center for Health Sciences.

The board of regents will start looking for the next president of OSU and will make sure the change happens smoothly during this time.

“We thank Dr. Shrum for her work and wish her the best in her future plans,” the statement said.
