Police in San Antonio have arrested a man, who was allegedly in the country illegally, for the murder of his elderly partner, according to an initial story from KSAT.
San Antonio police told KSAT that 26-year-old Alberto Rafael Ferrer Cabrera was arrested on Saturday for the death of his 81-year-old partner.
The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office told Fox News Digital that Cabrera is in the country illegally and has a hold placed on him by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Court papers from KSAT reveal that Cabrera admitted to killing his partner.
When the cops got there, they found his partner, an 81-year-old man, had been stabbed to death.
Court records indicate that Cabrera was caught and charged with murder and illegal entry from another country.
The police informed KSAT that they are still trying to find out why the killing happened and what caused the incident.
An ICE detainer lets the jail keep Cabrera for up to 48 hours, giving the U.S. Department of Homeland Security time to take him into custody according to federal immigration law.
The detainer gives ICE the ability and time to decide if they will take Cabrera into federal custody for deportation.
Fox News Digital contacted ICE and the San Antonio Police Department for a word, but they did not respond right away.
Over the weekend, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) made several arrests of illegal immigrants who had previously been accused of serious crimes like murder, robbery, and domestic violence. This is part of their ongoing effort to remove individuals who pose a risk to public safety.
Over the weekend, agents arrested more than 700 illegal immigrants, including over 500 who had previous criminal convictions or charges, as reported to Fox News Digital by a top official from the Trump administration.
Since the Trump government began in January, there have been thousands of arrests across the country. Trump promised to start a “historic” mass deportation operation. Officials say they are focusing on public safety threats but are also considering illegal aliens who don’t have any criminal records or charges.
The government has removed several restrictions from the Biden era for ICE agents, allowing them more freedom to enter “sensitive” places like churches and schools.
On Monday, Fox News Digital claimed that the government has ended Temporary Protected Status, which stops the deportation of migrants from specific countries, affecting over 300,000 people. Before leaving office, the Biden administration extended Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for certain countries, making it more difficult for ICE to deport those people.
