COLUMBIA, Kentucky — A guy from Adair County has been charged related to a reported domestic incident that occurred early Saturday morning.
Tyron Vanarsdale, 50, and his lover, Rebecca Smith, 43, left the Tiki Bar in Campbellsville and went to a house in Columbia, according to an arrest report. They started arguing, and it got physical.
According to Kentucky State Police, Smith asked Vanarsdale to stay when he backed his car up, which caused her to be dragged under it and hurt her legs and ankles.
KSP reported that Smith told officers she and Vanarsdale were fighting at the Tiki Bar, and the argument continued at her mother’s house. The last thing she remembered was lying on the ground and being unable to walk after Vanarsdale left the house.
She informed KSP that Vanarsdale had been physical with her before, as stated in the report.
Troopers at the scene noted in the citation that Smith’s ankles and feet had visible lacerations and there was “severe swelling” to her ankle, which she attributed to being drugged on her side by the car.
During the interview with Vanarsdale, he said that the fight started at the Tiki Bar and went on at Smith’s mother’s house, according to KSP.
Smith told detectives that he asked her to leave the vehicle, but she refused. So, he said he “slung” her out of the vehicle and tried to leave the house.
Vanarsdale said she started banging on the vehicle’s window when he put it in reverse. He said he opened the passenger door and it knocked her over.
Vanarsdale asked Smith if she needed an ambulance, but she started yelling and swearing at him before he left.
Troopers arrested Vanarsdale and took him to the Adair County Detention Center, where he faced charges for:
Second-degree assault
First-degree wanton endangerment
Leaving an accident scene means not helping or providing aid to those involved.
He is being held on a $10,000 cash bond, as stated in court papers.
