Nashville, Tennessee – On Sunday afternoon, Nashville police arrested two teens for making threats online against the principals of their schools.
The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) said the investigation began on Saturday, January 25. They arrested a 17-year-old girl from Antioch High School for posting a threat on Instagram against her principal. This is the same school where two students were killed in a shooting earlier that week. She is being charged in Juvenile Court for threatening a school officer.
In the second case, officials say that a 13-year-old boy from Madison Middle School sent threatening emails to his principal on Sunday, January 26. He is also accused in Juvenile Court of threatening a school worker.
After the shooting at Antioch High on Wednesday, January 22, police reported that six other Nashville students, including two 12-year-olds and two 13-year-olds, have been arrested for different, unrelated threats.
Officials from the MNPD stated that they take threats to schools, their leaders, workers, and community organizations very seriously. “Once we find out who is responsible, they will be taken to court.”
