The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is recalling thousands of ground coffee containers that were distributed in 15 states because of a mislabeling error.
On March 13, the recall was started, affecting 692 containers of ground coffee bags made by Our Family Foods.
On Monday, the FDA categorized the occurrence as a Class II recall.
The recall covers a total of 4,152 12-ounce packets of Our Family Traverse City Cherry Decaffeinated Ground Coffee.
The coffee might not have been decaffeinated at all, the FDA alert states, putting customers who are trying to avoid caffeine at risk.
According to the notice, “A portion of the production…was mislabeled as decaffeinate[d].”
