More than ten years after the four-legged fluffball wandered off, a grandmother in upstate New York was thrilled—and shocked—to be reunited with her long-lost puppy.
Melanie Epperson, a resident of Buffalo, told local station on Saturday that she believed her beloved pet Snuggles was lost forever after he went missing 11 years ago while she was relocating.
“I never thought I’d see him again,” she stated.
“I was worried, especially in the winter, because he don’t like even when it’s cold out now. When I take him out, he’s shivering,” she continued. “He don’t like the cold.”
However, after Snuggles was dropped off by someone, his microchip showed the family’s contact details, and her daughter Chantel Stroud recently received a message from the City of Buffalo Animal Shelter.
“I thought it was a prank at first,” Stroud stated.
“When they asked if I knew Snuggles I said, ‘Yeah, that was a long time ago.’ They then asked if I knew Melanie, and I said, ‘That’s my mom.'”
Epperson too believed her daughter was making a joke when she reached out, but when she learned it was genuine, she felt a rush of emotion.
The appreciative dog owner exclaimed, “I’m just overwhelmed, and I’m still overwhelmed, I just can’t believe he’s back.”

Epperson is more concerned with making up for lost time, even though it’s unclear where Snuggles spent the last ten years in the city or how he managed to survive.
“I Googled it, and he can live up to 18 years old. So, I have another four to five good years to snuggle Snuggles,” Epperson continued.
