There are still wildfires in the area, but as of Sunday morning, more than 92,000 people had signed a Change.org petition calling for the departure of Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass.
Someone on the site called “Frustrated Californian” started the petition. They called Bass guilty of “gross mismanagement” during the natural disaster crisis and even criticized her for not being in the country when the fires began.
Bass got a lot of flak for going to Ghana last week, which put her thousands of miles away from her city on Tuesday, the first day of the damage.
“Water supplies have been severely strained, billions of taxpayer dollars have been misallocated or left unaccounted for, and countless lives have been lost,” it says.
Palisades, Eaton, Kenneth, Hurst, and Archer are the five wildfires that are still going strong in Los Angeles County.
Ever since she got back to the U.S., Bass has been busy on social media. Her most recent post was on X and Facebook on Saturday night.
“Angelenos, we’re still going through it. To all of you who have lost someone, I feel your grief, your anger, and your complete shock.” I’ve seen how bad things are. In a one-minute video, she said, “It’s hard to believe how much people have lost, but we have to get through this crisis, and I know that we will.”
Zach Seidl, who is the deputy mayor of media for LA, spoke out in support of his boss.
“Mayor Bass is leading our city through one of the worst crises in our history,” said Seidl. “These firestorms were caused by hurricane-force winds and unusually dry conditions. The amount of false information about this crisis is shocking.” To keep fighting these fires, the mayor has gotten the federal, state, and local tools we need. He is also moving forward with an all-around plan for recovery.
Before she got a lot of attention for how she responded to the flames in Los Angeles, Bass was highly regarded by the most important people in the Democratic Party.
Bass was once seen as a strong candidate to be Vice President Biden’s running mate in 2020. Former President Barack Obama also thought she would make an “outstanding mayor” of the city.
Sarah Michelle Gellar, Patricia Heaton, and Jillian Michaels are some of the famous people who are speaking out against the government.
A radio host named Aurora Culpo told Fox News Digital, “This disaster did not come out of the blue.” “We knew there was a chance of fire, and we were as ready as a third-world country in a place with some of the highest taxes in the world.” People in charge should have to take responsibility and step down.
