New Daylighting Law That Affects Street Parking Goes Into Effect in Sacramento Today

Since the beginning of the year, California’s new “daylighting law” has been put into action in the city of Sacramento.

To make it safer for people crossing the street, the law doesn’t let people park close to a crossroads.

It is against the rules to park near the first crossing a driver sees as they get closer to an intersection.

In other words, a driver can’t park close to the crosswalk on the right side of a two-way road where the crossing is. On a street with only one way to go, that rule would apply to both sides.

A spokesperson for the City of Sacramento said that staff are trying to enforce the law in a number of ways, including at both new and old intersections.

At new intersections, the right parking limits will be put next to crosswalks, and workers are also putting the limits in places with more people walking, like downtown.

A representative for the city told FOX40.com that the 20-foot “no parking” zones are now being marked by staff with red curb paint or signs, but tickets are still not being given out because that would need to be approved by the city council.

Until then, people are being warned.

A spokesperson said that the number of affected parking spots in the city has not yet been determined. They also stressed that the rule affects all intersections in California.
