Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said that federal immigration agents were capturing the most dangerous illegal aliens during raids in the first week of the Trump administration.
Noem, who was confirmed on Saturday, took part in an immigration enforcement raid in New York City on Tuesday morning. During the raid, officers arrested an accused leader of the violent Tren de Aragua gang.
“We are picking up the worst of the worst in this country that are making our streets so dangerous,” Noem told Sean Hannity on “Hannity.” The neighborhood is now safer. That’s the truth of the situation.
Investigators have identified Anderson Zambrano-Pacheco, 25, as the guy seen in a video of heavily armed individuals breaking down an apartment door in Aurora, Colorado.
He was hiding in New York City, according to the police.
Noem said the raid aimed at illegal immigrants was very focused. To help reduce crime, she said that sanctuary city rules should be removed so that authorities can more effectively find and prosecute illegal immigrants who break the law.
“We need mayors and governors to work with us, but we will still get our job done,” she said. “We will keep moving ahead and find those people to help them.”
“Let’s discuss how some sanctuary cities handle people in their custody. They often release them right after they arrive, not just in our custody but also in the local government’s care.”
She said that immigration workers were pleased that they could finally do their job and remove these bad people from the country.

Noem said she plans to go with officials to find out what they need to do their jobs better.
Noem stated that three times more illegal immigrants involved in crimes were being caught compared to when Biden was in office, and she also mentioned that there were fewer encounters at the southern border.
“We have sent a clear message to the world: ‘Do not come here.'” Noem said, “If you’re here illegally and pose a danger, we are focused on you, you won’t be welcome, and we will take you away.”
