It was reported that a 33-year-old woman from North Lebanon Township chained a child to a fuel tank in her basement and was charged by the Lebanon County Regional Police Department.
At 9:55 p.m. on January 11, police were called to a home in the 600 block of East Kercher Avenue to check on an 11-year-old child’s safety. Court records show that the child said he was tied to his bed with chains.
The child was handcuffed to the railing of the top bunk bed when the police came. Court records show that the child told cops that his mother had tied him to a post in the basement but that he “got free and accidentally handcuffed himself to the bed.”
Police have charged Chazzity Candelario with unlawfully holding a minor, fake imprisonment, and putting children in danger.
Police said in court papers, “Chazzity said she has trouble keeping her kids in line while she’s at work.” “She admitted that she locked him in a 3×8 utility room.” She also told the cops that she had tied him up to the gas tank with chains.
The victim told the cops that his mother chains him to the leg of the fuel tank. Court records show that this has happened “up to two hours at times.”
As of Wednesday morning, Candelario could not pay the $100,000 bail and was being held at the Lebanon County Correctional Facility. The hearing is set for Jan. 23 at 8 a.m. before Magisterial District Judge Kim R. Wolfe.
