In a single week, burglars broke into a dance studio in Sacramento three times.
The Forever Dancerettes dancing studio on Madison Avenue in North Highlands was the scene of the daring break-ins.
“This place is no longer safe for my kids,” Verniece Tidwell, the director of the Forever Dancerettes expressed. “I’m unable to remain here. What if they decide to simply interrupt us during practice one day?
According to Tidwell, on Monday night, the front glass was broken. After breaking down the front door on Wednesday night, the burglars ultimately sawed through the metal bars of the boarded-up window, which was previously broken, on Friday night.
According to Tidwell, the combined cost of the damaged and stolen goods is around $10,000.
According to her, they took the team’s duffel bags, many speakers, dancing and studio supplies, and even the refreshments for the children.
“It’s sad you know,” Tidwell stated. “Can’t believe they would do something like this to children, to kids.”
In order to concentrate on fundraising, a formal studio practice was suspended on Sunday.
Amiyaa Aliyah Jeakins, a dancer at the class, stated, “I am feeling scared because what if they keep doing it more and more and we lose more stuff?”
Over the years, the well-decorated team has won several dancing competitions. They were even chosen to appear on an online television program.
“We’re finding a way to find our strength and keep putting on for the community,” Coach Naynay stated. “This is not going to stop us at all.”
The youngsters and coach never thought they would be the targets of robbers, yet they were unable to steal their spirits.
“After they did the first one I was like OK, they are not going to come back,” Tidwell stated. “No, two more times. It’s ridiculous. I can’t keep my kids here. I can’t stay here.”
The break-ins are being looked into by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office. Regretfully, there are no security cameras at the dance studio. Likewise, nearby companies did not.
They had to meet somewhere else because Tidwell’s mother’s church also uses the dance facility for Sunday services.
As the dancers prepare for their next competition at the end of April, the coaches are looking for a safer practice area.
To assist with the dancing studio’s repairs, a GoFundMe page has been created.
