Saint John Police Two Teens Accused of Blocking Ambulance on Highway

Police in Saint John say that the young drivers of two stolen cars stopped an ambulance from getting to a scene of an accident on Sunday. The drivers have been arrested.

Police said in a news release Monday that two cars blocked both lanes of Route 1 near the Rothesay exit around 4:45 a.m., making it impossible for an ambulance traveling west to pass.

The police found the two cars in a parking lot near Crown Street in Saint John. They later found out that the cars had been stolen.

The statement said that one of the cars wasn’t being driven, but the two drivers tried to get away in the other car and crashed into a police car.

Both of the men in the car—one, 15, and the other, 18,—were taken on charges that included operating a motor vehicle in a dangerous manner.

The release said that no one was hurt in the event.

Staff Sgt. Sean Rocca said he couldn’t give more information about what happened because the two people who were charged were due in court later.
