Some Schools in South Texas Will Be Closed Because of the Cold Front

Some school systems in the Corpus Christi area have said they will be closed on Tuesday because of the arctic front that is coming, while others have said they are watching the weather to see if they need to close.

As of Sunday, the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi warned of a winter storm for Monday night into Tuesday for all of South Texas except the border islands. It might rain and snow at the same time, and the roads might get slippery in some places.

The weather service says that Monday night will have a low of 29 degrees and a 90% chance of rain. There could be less than 0.1 inch of ice buildup.

It will be windy on Tuesday, with highs around 37 and lows around 22. Wind gusts could reach 21 mph.

West Oso ISD

There will be no school or office in the West Oso Independent School District on Tuesday, the district said in a news release.

The district said it will keep an eye on the weather to see if schools need to be closed after Tuesday.

Agua Dulce ISD

In a Facebook post, the district said that Monday would start later than usual at 10 a.m., with buses going at 9:15 a.m. On Tuesday, there will be no school.

If the weather changes, the district will make changes to its plan.

Banquete ISD

In a Facebook post, the Banquete Independent School District said that all of its schools would be closed on Tuesday.

The district will let people know on Tuesday if there are any changes to the Wednesday closures.

Monday’s plans for staff growth will go ahead as planned.

Bishop CISD

On its website, the district said that Tuesday and Wednesday would not have school.

Driscoll ISD

A post on the district’s Facebook page says that it will be closed on Tuesday and start late on Wednesday at 10 a.m.

Robstown ISD

In a news statement on Sunday, the Robstown Independent School District said that all of its schools would be closed on Tuesday.

Also, until school starts up again, all extracurricular activities are off the table. This includes UIL sports events, practices, and games.

The district said it would let people know on Tuesday if there are any changes to the Wednesday closures.

Corpus Christi ISD

As of Sunday, the district hadn’t said if it would be closing, but it did say that it was watching the weather in case it had to.

Calallen ISD

As of Sunday, the district had not posted about any closings on its website or social media pages.

Flour Bluff ISD

As of Sunday, the district hadn’t said if it would be closing, but in a Facebook post, it said it was keeping an eye on the weather in case it needed to.

Tuloso-Midway ISD

As of Sunday, the district had not said when it would be closed. But the district is keeping an eye on the weather and, according to a letter from Superintendent Steve VanMatre, plans to let parents know by early afternoon on Monday if schools will be closed or start later than usual.

London ISD

As of Sunday, the district had not posted about any closings on its website or social media pages.

Gregory-Portland ISD

The district hasn’t said if it will be closed on Sunday, but on its website, it says it is keeping an eye on the weather.

Del Mar College

As of Sunday, the college hadn’t said that it would be closed, but in a Facebook post, it said that plans could change depending on the weather.
