Video shows a flight crashing into a Black Hawk chopper over the Potomac River near Reagan Washington International Airport in D.C. on Wednesday night, causing delays in air travel in the area.
A webcam at the Kennedy Center captured the film, which was later acquired by local news.
The fiery crash happened just after 9:00 p.m. local time. It could be seen in the clear night sky and was over in seconds.
The Federal Aviation Administration reported that a regional jet collided with a Sikorsky H-60 helicopter. American Airlines later revealed that the jet was one of their American Eagle flights from Wichita, Kansas.
Military officials said the helicopter was an Army UH-60 Black Hawk that took off from Fort Belvoir in Virginia, but they haven’t shared much other information about it.
American Airlines reported that American Eagle Flight 5342 had 60 passengers and four crew members. Search and rescue teams are currently looking for lives.
