Teenage Girl Allegedly Stabs Ex-Boyfriend to Death Outside Miami Apartment

Authorities reported Friday that a teenage girl has been detained in relation to the deadly stabbing of her 17-year-old ex-boyfriend outside his Miami condominium back in December.

Just weeks after Yahkeim Lollar, a former running back at Miami Northwestern Senior High School who aspired to become a stockbroker, was fatally stabbed, Jahara Malik, 17, was arrested on Tuesday and taken to a Juvenile Assessment Center in Miami-Dade.

On December 20, shortly after 11 p.m., a female caller reported an emergency, prompting Miami police and fire rescue to arrive at a residence close to the 6100 block of Northwest Sixth Court.

According to police, Lollar was found with a stab wound to his chest on the third floor of a parking garage.

After administering first aid, first responders took him to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital, where his condition was severe.

According to police, Lollar was declared dead at 11:53 p.m. despite attempts to save his life.

CCTV footage and the suspect’s statement

On the evening of the stabbing, investigators reportedly looked over security footage from Lollar’s apartment building.

The video, according to the police, showed Malik and another woman getting out of a car and meeting Lollar.

Later, another camera footage revealed that Lollar had evidently been stabbed and was bleeding from his chest. Police reported that Malik was observed dropping a knife close to the scene of the incident shortly after.

In a detective interview, Malik stated that she had an Uber to Dadeland Mall to go shopping after meeting up with a friend at her apartment complex earlier that day.

According to the report, she informed detectives that she typically brought pepper spray for safety during rideshares, but she was unable to locate it, so she brought a knife instead.

Investigators reported that after shopping, Malik and her companion called Lollar and requested to meet outside of his residence.

The report claims that when they got there, Malik parted ways with her buddy and went into the complex by herself.

In addition to telling detectives that she and Lollar were “horseplaying” prior to the stabbing, Malik also made a statement that was omitted from the report that was made public.

Results of the medical examiner and the arrest

The Miami-Dade Medical Examiner’s Office declared Lollar’s death a homicide on January 16 after concluding that he had been stabbed in the torso.

Zeldrina Beecham, a Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputy and Lollar’s aunt, was devastated to learn about the occurrence.

After describing Yahkeim as “the type of kid who always wanted to have fun with his family,” Beecham told that last month that she was in her uniform when he passed away.

“We told him to keep his head straight and stay off the streets, and he followed our instructions, but this still happened,” Beecham added.

Malik is charged with one count of manslaughter with a deadly weapon, according to jail records.

She is being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center without bond as of Friday.

As of yet, no motive has been revealed.
