Teenager Arrested in Robbery Attack That Caused Severe Injuries to 72-Year-Old Woman

King County prosecutors have filed more than a dozen charges against 18-year-old Madden McGraw for a violent robbery that left a 72-year-old lady with a shattered vertebra in her back.

Eleven charges of identity fraud, one crime of robbery, and one count of having a stolen firearm have been brought against McGraw.

The accusations come from a string of instances where McGraw reportedly preyed on defenseless people in order to take their property and carry out other illegal acts.

McGraw is accused of pushing the elderly woman to the ground outside the H-Mart in Bellevue so he could take her purse. The woman was pushed so hard that she fell and shattered her back.

McGraw allegedly took her purse and tried to buy petrol in Federal Way using her stolen credit card.

McGraw allegedly made purchases at the Bellevue Square Mall that same day using a separate credit card that had been stolen during a comparable crime in Lynnwood.

Despite only being charged with one robbery at this time, police were able to connect McGraw to a string of robberies as a result of his acts.

Detectives were able to get sufficient evidence as they proceeded with their investigation to obtain a search warrant for McGraw’s home.

When police carried out the warrant, they found a concerning hoard of stolen goods.

A pattern of identity theft was suggested by the discovery of dozens of credit and debit cards with other people’s names on them, along with apparel bought using the stolen credit cards.

Five firearms were also found by authorities in McGraw’s residence. The charges against him were exacerbated by the fact that four of these firearms had been reported stolen.

Concerns regarding McGraw’s actions were further heightened when authorities discovered a taser, rifle magazines, and body armor from the Seattle Police Department.

Although there is a lot of evidence, McGraw is only facing one robbery allegation at this time.

Investigators are still looking into more evidence, which could result in additional charges. In light of the ongoing investigation, the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has said it is actively investigating if additional charges are necessary.

Given the seriousness of his alleged offenses, prosecutors have asked for $250,000 in bond for McGraw in the interim.

This case brings to light a concerning pattern of identity theft, violent robberies, and the possession of stolen firearms. His victims have suffered greatly as a result of McGraw’s acts, especially the elderly woman who was gravely injured.

“The totality of evidence suggested Madden McGraw worked with others to target vulnerable individuals – particularly elderly women – and conduct these crimes.,” Bellevue police stated in a release.

More information on McGraw’s involvement in other robberies might surface as the legal process progresses, and the scope of his illegal activity is probably going to be examined in greater detail.
