Because his 65-year-old girlfriend was “talking too much,” a 35-year-old Texas man was jailed for reportedly throwing scalding-hot soup on her, resulting in severe third-degree burns.
Waco resident Alexander Alton McDavid was charged with numerous offenses, including preventing arrest or transportation, threatening family members or household members with terrorism, assault resulting in physical harm, ongoing aggression against family, and harming an elderly person, including his own elderly girlfriend.
According to the affidavit obtained by KWTX, McDavid allegedly became blindly angry on February 28 and beat his fiancée, who is 30 years his senior, in their apartment after accusing her of being overly talkative.
She allegedly suffered third-degree burns along her right shoulder and forearm after he hit her with a plate of steaming hot soup that had just come out of the microwave.
According to the complaint, the victim’s lack of a car and cell phone prevented her from seeking assistance right away.
It was not until she ran into cops a few days later while visiting a Social Security office that she was able to report the abuse.
Before McDavid began abusing her physically, she told police that she and McDavid lived together and were dating for almost a year.
She said she had previously been choked by him, but she never told the police about it.
In 2017 and 2021, McDavid was found guilty of assault involving family violence.
He posted a $130,000 bond and was sent to McLennan County Jail.
