SUFFOLK COUNTY, NEW YORK – Someone who helps stop cruelty to animals in Suffolk County can win a $3,000 prize because a dog named “Meatloaf” was found with “extensive injuries.”
The group said on Tuesday that the prize is for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of someone involved in the animal cruelty case.
The Smithtown Animal Shelter got a male bully mix in November 2024. The dog, named Meatloaf, was discovered walking on Croft Lane, close to Creek Road in Smithtown. Animal center workers say the dog had several injuries, such as burns and wounds that got infected.
Chief Roy Gross of the Suffolk County SPCA said, “If you see any act of animal cruelty or neglect, please report it right away to the Suffolk County SPCA.” “Together, we can make sure that these animals get justice.”
Animal abuse that gets worse is a felony in New York State.
