Two Charged in Tragic Deaths of Kansas City Chiefs Fans 14 Months After Bodies Found

Following an NFL watch party more than a year ago, three Kansas City Chiefs fans were discovered frozen in their friend’s snowy garden in Kansas City, Missouri. Two charges have been made in relation to their deaths.

The Kansas City Missouri Police Department revealed at a news conference on Wednesday that two individuals are now being charged with felonies in Platte County, including involuntary manslaughter, in connection with the deaths of three Chiefs fans in January 2024, following a nearly 14-month investigation.

According to court documents, Jordan Willis and Ivory J. Carson are accused with three charges of involuntary manslaughter and two counts of delivering a restricted narcotic, with the exception of 35 grams or less of marijuana or synthetic cannabinoids.

“KCPD detectives never stopped working on the case, waiting for all the facts to come in. Reaching this point is a testament to their dedication to delivering justice for the victims and their loved ones,” Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves stated.

Clayton McGeeney, 37; Ricky Johnson, 38; and David Harrington, 36, are longstanding friends of Willis. On January 7, 2024, they were at his Kansas City home to see the Chiefs face the Los Angeles Chargers.

McGeeney’s fiancée discovered the three men dead on Willis’ farm two days later. Family members who looked for the three friends who never came home reported that Willis was unreachable by phone and did not answer his door in the days that followed.

Willis, however, told investigators that he hadn’t heard from any of their friends or relatives and that he had no idea any of his pals were deceased outside.

The relatives of the deceased men have questioned Willis’ involvement in what happened, with some threatening to file lawsuits, despite the early autopsy reports that family members shared with the media showing that fentanyl, cocaine, and marijuana were in their systems.

According to Willis’ lawyer John Picerno, he was “surprised that Jordan was charged with the deaths of his three friends.”

“That was contrary to what the prosecuting attorney’s office told me several months ago,” Picerno stated.

“The probable cause statement submitted by the State is consistent with what Jordan stated happened. Jordan maintains that he is not responsible for purchasing or supplying the drugs that led to the deaths of his three friends. We are very much looking forward to the day a jury gets to hear all of the evidence in this case.”

Willis’ “life changed forever,” as Picerno once described it, after he left his home in Kansas City and entered a rehabilitation facility following the murders of his pals.

As previously reported by a source close to the Willis family, the 39-year-old research scientist and Ph.D. holder “still struggles with the aftermath of all of this.”

“[He] not only lost good friends of his, but [had] many people turn on him,” according to a source.

According to the source, “it affected every part of his life, and he’s doing the best he can,” she added. “He has been helping with his dad’s care this year, and trying to stay positive.”

Whether Carson had hired a lawyer was not immediately apparent.
